The Combustion and Environment Group was formally inaugurated in January, 1995 with the merger of research groups working on alternative fuel applications and environmental dispersion of pollutants. This formal action was the result of informal cooperation and mutual research interests that date back to 1975.

March 6, 2008: C&E group presents four technical papers in SAE World Congress 2008 in Detroit and one conference paper in ASME Internal Combustion Engine Spring Technical Meeting 2008 in Chicago. See Publications for details.  

 

June 25,2007: Paitoon Kongsereeparp, Vahid Hosseini, and Xiangshu Yao from C&E group, and Mahdi Shahbakhti, Rob Lupul, Adrian Audet, and Ahmad Ghazi from T.E.C. Lab in Mechanical Engineering department at University of Alberta won the first prize in Auto21 HQP conference poster competition with project D05-DEC: Electronic Controls for VVT and HCCI combustion.
